Excellence Award for Touring Exhibitions

As part of Queensland’s 150th celebrations, Queensland Arts Council in conjunction with Queensland State Archives toured two exhibitions that provided valuable insight into the State’s rich and colourful past.

The success of these tours – Queensland Firsts and Top 150: Documenting Queensland – has been acknowledged by the Department of Public Works, presenting Queensland State Archives with a Recognition of Excellence Award.

The tours sparked a huge amount of interest in Queensland’s history, visiting 19 venues throughout Queensland, reaching people from Brisbane to Cooktown and Mount Isa.

Queensland Firsts exhibits rarely seen archival records that provide a window into social, political and cultural events of the past to map a journey that has defined us as Queenslanders.

Top 150: Documenting Queensland showcases a rare collection of Queensland’s most significant historical documents, mapping the decisions, events, people and places which have been instrumental in shaping its unique history.
